Welcome to the Smith Center Evangelical Free Church
Where disciples are made and then trained to serve Jesus.
- What is it like? We have classes for all ages, including two adult Sunday school classes. We welcome new comers and are glad to see you here. Our preaching is exegetical. We take the Bible verse by verse, explain its meaning and then make applications. We interpret the Bible literally, grammatically, and historically as our approach in understantding God's Word. We teach salvation through faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.
- What about my kids? We have a nursery for newborns to age three years during the morning Sunday school and worship service. There is also babysitting for the young couple's group on Sunday nights during the fall through spring sessions. There are Sunday school classes for all ages. Some of the younger kids have combined classes. We have an Awana program for 3 year olds (potty trained) throught the sixth grade, a Junior High youth group, and a High School group (see our "Groups" page) on Wednesday nights for fall through spring. In the summer we have Sunday night church and in the fall through spring we have three different Life Groups that meet at various times (See under, "Groups.")
- Where do I park? There is ample parking on the east and south sides of the church building.
- What do I wear? We are pretty causual in our dress. No suits or ties required. We dress in a business casual most of the time.
- How can I get connected? Come visit us and spend some time with us. The ladies have a Bible study on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Come to Sunday school which is a smaller more intimate group setting. We will make you feel welcome. Enjoy the worship service and the praise band.
- What do we believe? Please refer to our section with this title on this page. We have the full doctrinal statement on this page under "Our Beliefs." We hold to the 1950 and 2008 doctrinal statments of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
- How is the church governed? The Free Church is congregational in its polity. There is a board of the church that makes most day to day decisions with major issues going before the membership. We also have elders and deaconesses. We have a Christian education director, financial officers, and trustees.
